A MYSTERIOUS STORY FROM THE SPA TOWN BADEN
At the beginning of the 20th century Professor Jakob Pilzbarth is said to have been the head of a spa clinic where he developed highly peculiar activities. His epocale idea was for medicine to do away with makeshift solutions as they merely patch-up the human body. The human body no longer fulfils modern demands. To obtain true fulfilment, the human condition must be overcome to reach the next stage of the evolutionary ladder. According to Pilzbarth's idea, to achieve this next stage, man must regress through all stages of phylogenesis apes, birds, fish back to the snail and forward again in order to leap beyond the homosapien stage.
This exhibition presents the steps he took in order to realise his ideas. The tragic entanglements which developed and thwarted the realisation of this ingenious research project are also shown. Mankind's unique chance was therefore missed.
Pilzbarth's perculiar work in his spa clinic in Baden is presented in lifelike scenes which involve the visitor. Documents illustrate his dramatic career path, his rise to success, being honoured for his work and his fall in the bitter end. Visitors may undergo a self test, to discover which animal species they are related to and which personality traits need to be activated in order to progress to the post hominid stage.
The exhibition is designed and created by object artist Margaretha Dubach, Zurich. Text by Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Jürg Willi, psychiatrist and author.

MICE MUSEUM

The story of Otto Mouse is depicted in 22 miniature scenes. It begins one night when Otto Mouse climbs out of the window and creeps after the moon which promises him beautiful dreams and whisks him off to peculiar worlds. He encounters strange creatures which tell him the story of when it rained chocolate for 7 days and 7 nights. He flies over the Valley of Eyes where the one thousand eyed Seer gets its prophetic eyes. With his friend Pipo he travels into the earth and enters the magnificent castle in which a beautiful princess is guarded by polar bears. Back at home he tells of his perculiar travels to his amazed family.
